Open letter to gastrointestinal physicians

We are in the neighborhood! My name is Joshua Hehr and I am the Licensed Acupuncturist/Oriental Medicine Practitioner that has recently joined Align Sports Chiropractic and Health Center located in downtown Indiana PA. I’d like to tell you a little bit about my background, and what I commonly treat in my clinic, so that you may have more options for those patients seeking complementary treatment.

I graduated from Pacific College of Oriental Medicine (now Pacific College of Health and Science) with a master’s degree in acupuncture and oriental medicine. I have a background in the wellness field with years of clinical experience and wellness program development.

In the office, it is common to see patients with various pain conditions including: low back pain, migraines, sciatica, TMJ, and other neurogenic pain. Aside from treating pain though, I frequently treat a variety of gastrointestinal conditions. Utilizing acupuncture, herbal medicine, and other modalities I have had success working with patients complaining of the following conditions:

Nausea and Vomiting
Gastritis
Chronic Constipation
Inflammatory Bowel Disease
Dyspepsia
Esophageal Reflux
Irritable Bowel Syndrome
Etc.

Select this link Acupuncture GI Research Paper for an example research paper on the efficacy of acupuncture in the treatment of GI conditions. It would be my pleasure to connect with you and potentially work together in providing integrative treatment to help your patients reduce their symptoms and improve their quality of life. Please know that we also offer Chiropractic and Massage Therapy services in the same office.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns you may have.

Yours in Health,

Joshua Hehr, L.Ac., L.O.M. Licensed Acupuncturist Oriental Medicine Practitioner

One is Stress Less with Acupuncture

Traditionally, acupuncture manipulates QI which is to use the needle to leverage physiological processes. Pathology arises when there are imbalances in normal body functions. Modern life provides us with chronic stressors that can eventually lead to disease. Without intervention (lifestyle or otherwise) there is a risk of developing diabetes, autoimmune conditions, chronic pain & inflammation, cardiovascular disease, hypertension, obesity, and mental health issues. General symptoms may include:

  • Upset stomach, diarrhea, nausea, constipation, heartburn, or other gut issues
  • Rapid heart rate or chest pain
  • Trouble sleeping
  • Loss of sexual desire or reduced sexual function
  • More colds or seasonal illness than usual
  • Clenched jaw or teeth grinding
  • Sore, tense muscles, especially in the neck and shoulders
  • Constant worry
  • Racing thoughts
  • Feeling frazzled, unfocused, and forgetfulness
