Muscle Scraping: Unraveling Knots & Boosting Performance

Feeling tight and sore?  Muscle scraping might be the answer you’ve been searching for!  What is it?
Muscle scraping is a technique using instruments to gently “scrape” the surface of your skin, targeting areas of muscle tension and adhesions. It helps break down scar tissue, improve blood flow, and reduce pain.

Here’s what it can do for you:

  • Decrease muscle tightness and pain
  • Improve range of motion and flexibility
  • Enhance athletic performance
  • Aid in faster recovery from injuries
  • Promote relaxation and well-being

Not convinced?  Check out these benefits:

  • Non-invasive and pain-free (although it might feel intense!)
  • Quick and effective treatment sessions
  • Long-lasting results with regular sessions

Open letter to gastrointestinal physicians

We are in the neighborhood! My name is Joshua Hehr and I am the Licensed Acupuncturist/Oriental Medicine Practitioner that has recently joined Align Sports Chiropractic and Health Center located in downtown Indiana PA. I’d like to tell you a little bit about my background, and what I commonly treat in my clinic, so that you may have more options for those patients seeking complementary treatment.

I graduated from Pacific College of Oriental Medicine (now Pacific College of Health and Science) with a master’s degree in acupuncture and oriental medicine. I have a background in the wellness field with years of clinical experience and wellness program development.

In the office, it is common to see patients with various pain conditions including: low back pain, migraines, sciatica, TMJ, and other neurogenic pain. Aside from treating pain though, I frequently treat a variety of gastrointestinal conditions. Utilizing acupuncture, herbal medicine, and other modalities I have had success working with patients complaining of the following conditions:

Nausea and Vomiting
Gastritis
Chronic Constipation
Inflammatory Bowel Disease
Dyspepsia
Esophageal Reflux
Irritable Bowel Syndrome
Etc.

Select this link Acupuncture GI Research Paper for an example research paper on the efficacy of acupuncture in the treatment of GI conditions. It would be my pleasure to connect with you and potentially work together in providing integrative treatment to help your patients reduce their symptoms and improve their quality of life. Please know that we also offer Chiropractic and Massage Therapy services in the same office.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns you may have.

Yours in Health,

Joshua Hehr, L.Ac., L.O.M. Licensed Acupuncturist Oriental Medicine Practitioner

One is Stress Less with Acupuncture

Traditionally, acupuncture manipulates QI which is to use the needle to leverage physiological processes. Pathology arises when there are imbalances in normal body functions. Modern life provides us with chronic stressors that can eventually lead to disease. Without intervention (lifestyle or otherwise) there is a risk of developing diabetes, autoimmune conditions, chronic pain & inflammation, cardiovascular disease, hypertension, obesity, and mental health issues. General symptoms may include:

  • Upset stomach, diarrhea, nausea, constipation, heartburn, or other gut issues
  • Rapid heart rate or chest pain
  • Trouble sleeping
  • Loss of sexual desire or reduced sexual function
  • More colds or seasonal illness than usual
  • Clenched jaw or teeth grinding
  • Sore, tense muscles, especially in the neck and shoulders
  • Constant worry
  • Racing thoughts
  • Feeling frazzled, unfocused, and forgetfulness

Posture

Posture Brace

Your spine should have 3 curves. When you lose these curves due to poor posture your spine will “wear out” sooner then it is supposed to. When slouching, you are also not getting sufficient oxygen into your body, which means poor posture affects your energy level, resulting in weight gain and fatigue.

Posture

Proper posture helps to keep bones and joints in correct alignment to reduce and prevent degenerative arthritis, joint pain, and injuries.

Having digestion problems? Inflammatory bowel disease? Irritable bowel syndrome? Try probiotics to help improve bloating and decrease inflammation.

PROBIOTICS

Use probiotics for digestion and nutrient assimilation, support immune system, improve bowel heath (Inflammatory Bowel Disease, Irritable Bowel Syndrome), restore dysbiosis, repair after antibiotic use, improve bloating, and to decrease inflammation!!!

Did you know: Many probiotics die in the manufacturing and shipping process. (Buy from a company where data from the manufacturing process is readily available.  Also, buy from a company that overnight cold ships the product so heat from sitting on a box truck/plane doesn’t kill it.)

Food Sensitivity Testing

This is a comprehensive test that reviews your body’s response to items such as: dairy, seafood, meat, nuts/seeds, vegetables, fruits, legumes, grains, and candida.  Candida overgrowth can occur because of oral antibiotic use, oral contraceptive use, chemotherapy, and/or anti-inflammatory steroids.  If allowed to grow out of balance, the toxins produced by Candida can create “leaky gut” syndrome. A wide range of disorders have been linked to Candida, including autism, multiple sclerosis, depression, and chronic fatigue.
